Integrated Air Compressor Solution for Laser Cutting

CASE DETAIL

Integrated Air Compressor Solution for Laser Cutting

1. Project Background

A metal processing company mainly engaged in sheet metal parts, cabinet enclosures, mechanical accessories and custom metal parts operates multiple laser cutting machines in its workshop. Laser cutting requires stable, dry and clean compressed air for auxiliary cutting, slag blowing, protective lens and cutting section quality assurance.

With growing order volumes, the customer's original air supply equipment gradually failed to meet production needs. Problems included unstable supply pressure, high moisture content in the compressed air, scattered air treatment configuration and a large installation footprint, all of which affected laser cutting efficiency and finished product quality.

To improve cutting stability and reduce overall usage costs, the customer planned to equip the laser cutting machines with an integrated compressed air system.

2. Problems at the Customer Site

  1. Unstable supply pressure. Laser cutting equipment has strict requirements for pressure stability. The original equipment experienced pressure fluctuation during continuous cutting, affecting cutting speed and section quality.
  2. High risk of moisture and oil in the air. Insufficient drying and filtration of compressed air can affect cutting quality and increase the maintenance risk of laser mirrors, valve groups and pneumatic components.
  3. Scattered equipment configuration. The original compressor, air receiver, dryer and filters were installed separately, occupying a large floor area with complex piping connections and inconvenient maintenance.
  4. Long installation and commissioning time. The customer wanted the equipment to be put into use quickly after arrival to avoid disrupting normal production schedules.
  5. Operating costs to be controlled. With long running hours in the metal processing workshop, electricity and maintenance costs of the air system were a key concern.

3. RuiWo Solution

Based on the pressure, air demand, site space and production rhythm of the customer's laser cutting equipment, RuiWo configured the 4-in-1 combination screw air compressor specially designed for laser cutting, integrating the compressor, air receiver, refrigerated dryer and precision filters into one system to meet the requirements of laser cutting equipment for a stable air source and high air quality.

  1. Integrated design. The unit integrates the compressor, air receiver, dryer and filtration system, reducing on-site piping, saving floor space and allowing plug-and-play use after power connection.
  2. Stable air supply. The system is matched to the actual air demand of the laser cutting equipment, ensuring stable pressure during continuous cutting and reducing cutting anomalies caused by pressure fluctuation.
  3. Dry and clean air. The refrigerated dryer and precision filters effectively reduce moisture, oil and impurities, ensuring cutting quality and keeping the pneumatic system clean.
  4. Easy maintenance. The compact combination structure makes routine inspection, drainage, element replacement and servicing more convenient, reducing the customer's maintenance burden.
  5. Lower overall costs. Compared with traditional separate configurations, the integrated unit is simpler to install, has less piping loss and more centralized management, helping reduce long-term operating costs.

4. Project Results

After the equipment was put into service, air supply to the customer's laser cutting lines became more stable, pressure fluctuation during continuous cutting decreased noticeably and cutting section quality became more consistent. With the compressed air dried and filtered, the pneumatic system stayed cleaner, reducing maintenance issues caused by moisture and impurities.

In addition, the 4-in-1 combination structure reduced on-site installation work and saved workshop space, allowing the customer to complete commissioning faster and start production sooner. Maintenance also became more centralized, improving daily management efficiency.

5. Customer Benefits

  1. Improved cutting stability. Stable compressed air ensures continuous operation of laser cutting equipment, reducing cutting problems caused by air source fluctuation.
  2. Better cutting quality. Dry, clean compressed air helps reduce burrs, slag adhesion and inconsistent cutting sections.
  3. Space saving. The integrated design occupies less floor area, ideal for sheet metal processing, cabinet manufacturing and laser cutting workshops.
  4. Lower maintenance difficulty. The highly integrated system simplifies daily inspection and maintenance, avoiding the hassle of managing multiple separate units.
  5. Lower overall usage costs. Reduced piping and installation costs plus higher system efficiency help customers control long-term air costs.

6. Project Summary

The laser cutting industry has high requirements for the stability and cleanliness of compressed air; air source quality directly affects cutting efficiency, section quality and equipment maintenance costs. For small and medium-sized metal processing enterprises, the 4-in-1 combination laser cutting compressor provides stable air supply, drying/filtration and convenient maintenance within limited space, making it a highly efficient supporting solution.

RuiWo provides selection guidance, installation support, air treatment configuration and long-term maintenance services for laser cutting air systems of different power levels, pressures and workshop conditions, helping customers improve cutting efficiency and reduce air costs.
